Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret

THE LAST OUT STORY

The play Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret was written to validate the journey of our military veterans and their families while building genuine and well-informed understanding in the communities where they live.

LAST OUT'S SUCCESSFUL NATIONAL TOUR

From Veterans Day 2018 to January 2020 the cast and crew traveled 26,000 miles, taking the stage for 42 performances in 14 cities. We touched 5000 lives, honored 28 Gold Star families and 500 heroes, and performed 175 Post Traumatic Stress interventions.

THE COVID-19 PIVOT

When COVID-19 shut down the country and ended our 2020 tour, The Heroes Journey immediately pivoted toward the creation of a digital production of Last Out.

The result is the most realistic stage presentation brought to film about the true cost of war and performed by the warriors who lived it. The film turns our story into a tool that is both valuable and timeless, and that will impact veterans and their families across the United States.

LAST OUT FILMING BEGINS

In February 2021, the cast and crew took to the studio to turn the play Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret into a digital production. The film Last Out tells the same gut-wrenching story of a warrior fighting battles that range from tribal Afghanistan to his own living room. It exposes and examines the raw, truthful side of war as it begins to rip apart his family, his integrity, and his soul. Last Out also provides hope for warriors and their families, as well as the cathartic release of letting go of the pain of modern war. Turning Last Out into a film was no small task and required a herculean grassroots fundraising campaign that raised the resources necessary to create a professional product.

A LOVE LETTER TO GOLD STAR FAMILIES

Over the Memorial Day 2021 weekend we shared a limited release of Last Out across the U.S. to honor those men and women who have given all for our country and to send a love letter to the families they left behind. We were humbled to have 30,000 people view the film and moved by the feedback they gave us. Our amazing production crew is now back in the studio and working diligently toward a full release by Veterans Day 2021.

We Need Your Help!

As tough as this past year and a half has been on many of us, our warriors abroad, our veterans, and their families, and the First Responder community are all facing immense challenges. Despite the fear, uncertainty, and division affecting our nation,  our warriors have never wavered. Meanwhile, we are losing even more of our veterans to suicide, depression, and a range of other mental health issues as they fight to navigate the immense gaps of transition from the military or civil service.

Please join The Heroes Journey in our fight to help warriors find their voice through purposeful storytelling. Your donation at any level can help us make a great difference to our warriors in a time of crisis.

Right now, no one else is coming. It's up to us. Let's send a message to our warriors and their families that they are not forgotten, that they’re not alone despite the pain we are going through as a nation.

Please go to The Heroes Journey and make a donation now.

Thank you for what you do to support our military, veteran, and first responder communities.
